Bio

Hello, My name is Devin Chomyk, and I am a graphic design primarily focusing on Brand Identity and Logo Design. I also have extensive experience with photography and animation, and always love pushing my skill set forward in new areas.

I am a huge fan of most things “Geek.” From D&D to video games, to comics and genre films, all sprinkled with a heavy dose of pro wrestling. I then fuel both work and play with large grandiose amounts of caffeine, mostly in delicious coffee form.

Design Philosophy

De Stijl, Constructivism, Minimalism and Pop Art, are just a few of the art movements that have had a significant influence on my work. The powerful geometric forms these works often possess, combined with their bold use of colour are a great source of inspiration for me. I love looking at not only this older art itself but also what that art has inspired in contemporary visual mediums.

The two major influences that I often derive from these movements are one, their use of colour, and two, their minimalist approaches. All these movements and art in general that I am drawn to tend to have intense colour compositions that often incorporation either strong contrasting colours or monochrome palettes with a bold accent colour. I love the way these pallets easily create strong dynamic imagery, which becomes even further accentuated when it is paired with a minimalist approach. Bold colours can have an even higher chance to shine when you use them with simplified imagery. Colour pops can easily hold and direct the eye through an image allowing you to hold the viewers gaze and control what and when they see it.

All in all, you could sum up my design philosophy with two simple idioms: “Colour is king,” and “Less is more.”
